Create unique wooden objects with expert guidance in our workshop sessions.

Join our woodturning experience sessions in Bristol's Westbury Wildlife Park. No previous experience necessary. Book your session today and unleash your creativity!

Starting with a blank of wood you will use a variety of woodturning tools and techniques to form and finish your own unique piece, for example a fir tree, penguin or twig pot.

Sessions are for around 2-3 hours and can accommodate up to 3 people at a time. Discounts are available for multiple people booking the same session.

Our standard session timeslots are Mondays 2pm and 5pm, Wednesdays 5pm or Sundays 2pm but we are happy to discuss tailoring sessions and considering other times.

Our Workshop

We are grateful to the beautiful Westbury Wildlife Park Foundation, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol for allowing us to set up a woodturning workshop on their site where our woodturning experiences take place.

The Westbury Wildlife Park is a tranquil oasis along the River Trym hidden in Westbury-on-Trym village in the north of Bristol where Simon is a regular volunteer on the gardening and maintenance team.

Additional Information

  • Please be aware that woodturning involves standing up at the lathe for long periods.

  • There will be a tea break partway through the session, either at the Westbury Wildlife Park Foundation cafe if during open hours or provided by Trym Woodcraft.

  • Under 18s should be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can either be another participant (please book their place at the same time) or as an observer.

  • Bookings for a single person may be paired with another single person booking.
